PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vadim Finkelstein (ranked 25292 p4p, 3049 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 772 p4p, 400 weight class). Duggan has chosen USA NATIONAL ANTHEM as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vadim Finkelstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jim Duggan!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duggan throws an overhand right that lands on Finkelstein's shoulder, as Finkelstein tries to avoid the shot.
Duggan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Finkelstein moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Duggan has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Finkelstein keeps the fight on the outside.
Finkelstein drops down looking for a counter takedown but Duggan sprawls and moves away.

and Finkelstein counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Finkelstein.

Finkelstein chips away with some ground and pound.
Duggan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Duggan wants to get back to his feet but Finkelstein is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Finkelstein postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duggan looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Finkelstein puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Finkelstein connects with a nice short shot to Duggan's temple.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Duggan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Finkelstein thows a huge punch but Duggan dodges it nicely.

Finkelstein wants to work for an arm triangle but Duggan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Duggan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Finkelstein pulls his head out easily.
Finkelstein takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Duggan wants to stand back up but Finkelstein manages to pass into side control.
Duggan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Finkelstein connects with a decent elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Duggan takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Duggan is rocked!
Finkelstein lands a strong strike to the head of Duggan. That's dazed him! Finkelstein looking to finish here. Duggan is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Finkelstein lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
