Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryder Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brock Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karelin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Young sprawls well initially but Karelin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Karelin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
It looks like Karelin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Karelin not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Karelin is looking for a kimura but Young is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Karelin to get the leverage.
Young keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Karelin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Young taking some punishment here, with Karelin in his half guard.

Karelin is taking a breather. Young says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Karelin lands a nice short elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ground and pound from Karelin.
Karelin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Karelin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Karelin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Young!
Karelin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Young holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Karelin tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Young has left one of his arms exposed and Karelin doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Young screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brock Karelin!
