Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Brutus (ranked 6491 p4p, 5773 weight class) and Sonny Day (ranked 617 p4p, 570 weight class). Sonny Day told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Brutus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sonny Day!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brutus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nice jab there from Day.
Day lands a lovely overhand right.

Day's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brutus under the eye.
Day has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Brutus throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Day throws a shot from downtown. Brutus moves away and avoids it.

Brutus has been working on his balance at Lionheart Combat Sports, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Day.

Day is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Brutus had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Day might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Day stalks Brutus and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brutus's face. Brutus staggers backwards, shaken.
Day lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Day displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Brutus throws out the jab.
Day cracks Brutus with a right hand to the side of the head.
Day lands a nice shot that snaps Brutus's head back.
Brutus tries to land a front kick but Day steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Brutus. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Day has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brutus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Day throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Brutus keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Day's head.

Brutus drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Brutus as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Day screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Brutus! Nice submission victory there!
