Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Scaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Mezias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mezias swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Scaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Scaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scaz wants to clinch up but Mezias keeps it at a distance.
Scaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mezias as he jumps to the side.
Mezias blocks a low kick nicely.
Mezias takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

and Mezias counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mezias jumps into guard, dragging Scaz to the mat.
Scaz pushes down on Mezias's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Scaz connects with a nice short shot to Mezias's temple.

Mezias pushes Scaz off and gets back to his feet.

Mezias has closed the distance and engaged Scaz in a clinch.

and Mezias counters with a nice double leg into side control. Scaz won't be happy with that.

Mezias is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Scaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mezias connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Scaz some visible discomfort.

Mezias has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Scaz avoids a punch combination nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scaz is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

That's time! Scaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

so Mezias counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Scaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mezias not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Scaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mezias doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mezias manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
