PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wally West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crow Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wally West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Crow Shadow!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shadow misses with a double jab.
Shadow looks to land a combination but West avoids it well.

West slips a jab and a cross from Shadow.
Shadow throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

West shoots in looking for a takedown. Shadow tries to sprawl out of it but West keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shadow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shadow will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shadow lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but West circles away quickly and effectively.

Shadow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with West. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Crow Shadow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shadow throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

West throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shadow's waist but Shadow gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing West off to one side.
Shadow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but West moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

West shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shadow as he jumps to the side.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Horrible takedown by West or perhaps it was just good defense by Shadow which made him look bad.
Shadow lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but West circles away quickly and effectively.

West changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shadow tries to avoid it but West manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shadow to the ground. Shadow escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for West, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
