Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jairzinho Teixeira (ranked 2684 p4p, 2810 weight class) and Andre Powell (ranked 362 p4p, 373 weight class). Teixeira comes to the cage accompanied by The Eye of the Tiger. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jairzinho Teixeira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andre Powell!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell throws a hook but Teixeira avoids it easily.
Jairzinho Teixeira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powell misses with a double jab.
Teixeira bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A big right from Teixeira misses.
Teixeira fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Powell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Teixeira lands a slapping body shot.
Teixeira lands a nice looking body shot.
Teixeira tries to land a front kick but Powell steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Powell blocks a jab.
Powell appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Teixeira walks into a stiff left hand from Powell.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Powell has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Powell counters with a left to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Teixeira throws a right and a left that both miss.
Powell throws the left hand but Teixeira avoids the punch easily.

Powell looks to score with a jab to the body but Teixeira is just out of range.

Powell with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Teixeira to score with a decent uppercut.

A little jabbing left from Powell on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Powell connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Teixeira lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Powell at a distance.
Powell on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Teixeira scores with a hook to the body. Powell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Powell throws a looping overhand right but Teixeira ducks down to avoid it.

and Powell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Powell connects with a right hand. Teixeira shakes it off.
Teixeira tries to move into range but Powell moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Teixeira slips under a jab from Powell.
Teixeira lands with an uppercut that bounces Powell off the cage and back into range.

Powell fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Teixeira has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Teixeira throws a right and a left that both miss.
Powell walks into a left hand.
Teixeira throws a body shot but no joy.
Teixeira connects with a single shot there.
Sloppy strikes from Teixeira. Those never looked like landing.
Powell shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Teixeira eats them both and turns towards Powell to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Jairzinho Teixeira has been cut.

Teixeira is rocked!
Teixeira walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Powell swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
