Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hayato Sakuraba (ranked 2238 p4p, 456 weight class) and Bill Smif (ranked 287 p4p, 65 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Smif's choice of entrance music: Playtime. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Hayato Sakuraba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Smif!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Chris Dean and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Smif.
Sakuraba takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Smif tests Sakuraba's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Smif misses with a hook
and Sakuraba counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Sakuraba postures up in Smif's guard and throws a big left but Smif blocks it.
Sakuraba trying to control the position from guard on top but Smif is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sakuraba trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Smif is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Smif really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sakuraba. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sakuraba thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sakuraba passes Smif's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Sakuraba seems to be working for a kimura but Smif defends the submission attempt.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smif can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smif is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've been hearing good reports from Sakuraba's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sakuraba seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Smif is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
