PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Jones (ranked 6554 p4p, 24698 weight class) and Pudd Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen Desperado - Eagles as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joshua Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pudd Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Nelson's guard.
Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Nelson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.
Nelson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nelson defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nelson has gone for a leg lock! Jones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nelson's guard.

Jones scoring with punches to the head and body.

Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Jones is pushing down on Nelson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nelson is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jones controlling the pace.
Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nelson keeps working.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jones with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Jones prevents Nelson from standing back up.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nelson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jones throwing shots but Nelson is blocking nicely.

Jones throws a big right hand that misses.

Nelson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones is pushing down on Nelson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nelson is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A telegraphed right hand from Nelson misses the target.
Nelson swings widly with a right hand
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
Jones shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Nelson moves into range and clinches up with Jones.
Jones working aggressively here.
Jones lands with a right to the head.
Nelson tries to break the clinch but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones lands a nice elbow.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Nelson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jones lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Nelson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice sprawl there from Nelson as Jones shoots in.
Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Nice uppercut lands for Nelson. That snapped Jones's head back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jones darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage.
Jones keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Nelson's efforts to push away.
Jones lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Nice body punch from Jones.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones pushes Nelson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jones keeps control of Nelson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Nelson wants to break free but Jones has control.
A nice left hand lands by Jones.
Nice body punch from Jones - that landed with a thud.
Nelson is breathing heavily.
Jones lands a body punch in the clinch.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of Nelson's head.
Jones pushes Nelson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Nelson takes a knee to the side of the body.
Nelson takes a shot to the head.
A short left from Jones.
Jones lands with a short punch from the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones lands a right hand that snaps the head of Nelson backwards.
Nelson can't break the clinch.
Jones lands with a left to the head.
Jones makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Jones lands a vicious elbow to the side of Nelson's head that scrambles his senses and sends him wobbling down to the canvas! Jones tries to finish him with strikes but Nelson still seems able to defend himself so Jones steps back and lets Nelson get back to his feet - he wants no part of the ground game.

Nelson is rocked!

It looks like Pudd Nelson has been cut.

Jones clinches up against the cage.
Nelson is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nelson can do to turn this around?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones lands a shoulder strike.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jones.
Jones digs a right hand underneath Nelson's ribcage. Nelson let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Jones lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Nelson backwards.
Jones has Nelson pressed against the cage. He pushes Nelson back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Jones throws a beautiful elbow that sends Nelson crashing to the floor! Jones piles on the pressure with more strikes! Nelson is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joshua Jones!
A very excited looking Joshua Jones made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
