Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ariel Pérez (ranked 4941 p4p, 4870 weight class) and Georges MacDonald (ranked 428 p4p, 423 weight class). MacDonald has chosen Forty Six & 2 as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Ariel Pérez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ariel Pérez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges MacDonald! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by MacDonald. Pérez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. MacDonald controls the position. MacDonald tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pérez's legs. MacDonald is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pérez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. MacDonald's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pérez parries the strikes from MacDonald easily there. MacDonald is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pérez to escape.
Pérez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of MacDonald. Pérez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but MacDonald has just dragged him back down to the mat. MacDonald advances nicely into full mount. MacDonald sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. MacDonald thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. MacDonald looking to ground and pound but Pérez is blocking nicely. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. MacDonald sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Georges MacDonald dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. MacDonald takes a jab right on the kisser.
Pérez gets caught flat footed, as MacDonald shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Pérez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst MacDonald is controlling him. MacDonald looking to pass the guard. MacDonald stays in close to Pérez's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pérez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and MacDonald dives into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. MacDonald is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Pérez's shoulder. That is not cool. Let's hope that MacDonald has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from MacDonald.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. MacDonald with more of the same as he continues to hold on. MacDonald has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Yet more stalling tactics from MacDonald.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. MacDonald tries to clinch but Pérez moves out of range.

MacDonald closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - MacDonald lands in his opponent's guard. MacDonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Pérez is trying to keep MacDonald in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round. MacDonald is continuing to stall. Pérez can't keep his opponent in guard - MacDonald advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pérez tries to kick MacDonald off but MacDonald keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. MacDonald stalling. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Georges MacDonald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. MacDonald shoots for a takedown but Pérez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Pérez misses with a two punch combination.
Pérez throws a right and a left that MacDonald avoids nicely. Pérez jabs MacDonald right on the nose. MacDonald blinks but takes it well. Pérez throws a big shot that misses. Pérez connects with a nice looking jab.
Pérez throws a hook but MacDonald blocks it. MacDonald moves away from the strike by Pérez. Pérez looks to land a combination but MacDonald avoids it well. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! MacDonald changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pérez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. MacDonald staying calm. Ariel Pérez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The adventures of MacDonald the control monster continue. Boring. Pérez is trying to escape and get back to his feet. MacDonald takes a little break here. Pérez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Pérez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Georges MacDonald is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Pérez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! MacDonald controlling the pace for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Georges MacDonald. I've got MacDonald winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
