PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tobias Berge (ranked 1111 p4p, 2202 weight class) and Albert Einstein (ranked 144 p4p, 275 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Albert Einstein was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tobias Berge!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Albert Einstein!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berge tries to clinch but Einstein moves out of range.

Einstein shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Berge is trying to defend but Einstein finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Berge is staying active underneath Einstein, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Einstein not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Berge looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Einstein trying to control the action but Berge is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Berge definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Einstein takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Einstein is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Berge is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Einstein pulls his head out easily.

Einstein moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Berge.
The referee asks Einstein politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Einstein prefers to stall for the moment though.
Berge avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Einstein.

Berge is trying to get back to half guard.
Einstein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Einstein looking to control but instead Berge has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

Berge is trying to maintain the position but Einstein is very close to passing his half guard.
Einstein slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Let's hope that Einstein has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Berge wants to improve his position but Einstein is controlling well.
Einstein is pressing down on Berge's thigh, looking to free his foot. Berge is holding on for now.

Einstein's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've been informed that Einstein has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Berge tries to lock up and control but Einstein gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Einstein breaks from Berge's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Einstein working the ground and pound effectively.
Berge tries to hold on but Einstein pushes him away.
Einstein has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Berge's face.
Einstein wants to control the pace but Berge is squirming around nicely.

Berge is looking to get to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Einstein shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Berge napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Einstein is looking for a kimura but Berge is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Einstein to get the leverage.

Einstein has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Einstein stalling away here and it's allowed Berge to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Einstein is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Einstein wants to control from the top but Berge keeps moving.
Einstein sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Berge's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Einstein is trying to control. Berge wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Einstein thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Berge is refusing to be controlled, as Einstein sits in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Einstein shoots in and bounces Berge off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Berge wants to sweep but no luck.
Einstein passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Einstein slows the pace down.
Berge tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Berge tries to reverse the position but Einstein maintains control.

Einstein cracks Berge with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Berge is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Einstein connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Berge tries to hold on but Einstein pushes him away.
Berge bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Berge drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Einstein dives on top into guard.

Albert Einstein has got the better of the ground game so far.
Einstein stays in close to Berge's body and controls the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Albert Einstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action!

Einstein avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Einstein tries to keep at a distance but Berge has taken the fight into the clinch.

Berge is looking for a triangle but Einstein pushes his legs off easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Berge is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Einstein pulls his head out easily.
Einstein takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Berge wants to control but Einstein is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Einstein got a little sloppy there for a moment and Berge has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Einstein has managed to get both his arms back between Berge's legs - danger averted.

Berge is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Berge has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Einstein. Oh but Berge has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Einstein goes limp - he's gone! Berge jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tobias Berge!
