Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dricus Du Plessis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anirudh Negi! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Negi throws a jab but it's blocked by Du Plessis. Du Plessis went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Negi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Du Plessis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Negi. Du Plessis appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Negi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Du Plessis throws a chopping leg kick but Negi manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Du Plessis feints and as Negi raises his hands in defense, Du Plessis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Negi being controlled here, momentarily. Du Plessis passes Negi's right leg, so he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Negi wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Du Plessis is thwarting Negi's attempts to control the position. Du Plessis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Negi is looking to improve his position.

Negi tries to kick Du Plessis off in order to stand up. Du Plessis Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Negi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Du Plessis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Negi on the ground. Negi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Du Plessis! Negi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Negi wants to control the pace but Du Plessis is squirming around nicely. Du Plessis is desperately trying to improve his position but Negi has a good base and remains in mount. Du Plessis is just holding on here. Negi manages to take his back.
Du Plessis is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Du Plessis is working hard here to advance position. Du Plessis is trying to roll into a better position but Negi has get a rear naked choke and Du Plessis is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!

He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. In defeat, Dricus Du Plessis stepped up to the mic, saying 'In this game you never lose. You either win or you learn. Tonight he taught me a lesson and for that I thank him. I will improve.'.
