Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Snake (ranked 5306 p4p, 25298 weight class) and Jimmy Gavin (ranked 529 p4p, 638 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimmy Gavin!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snake leaves Gavin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Snake has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Gavin walks forward, straight into a front kick from Snake.
Gavin doesn't manage to clinch there - Snake circles away.
Gavin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Snake is looking to counter the offense by Gavin and move into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gavin shoots in but Snake avoids the takedown attempt easily.
David Snake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Gavin.

As Gavin tries to get set, Snake tries to push him back and clinch up but Gavin manages to avoid the attempt.

Snake quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Gavin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Snake displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gavin.
Snake seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Gavin or perhaps it was just good defense by Snake, which made it look bad.

Snake closes the distance and clinches.
Snake slowing the pace effectively.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Snake gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

Gavin is trying to break free.
Snake is working for takedown but Gavin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gavin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Snake displaying some good clinch control by pressing Gavin up against the cage.

Gavin controls Snake momentarily but Snake frees himself.

Gavin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Snake haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We've been informed that Gavin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Gavin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Snake keeps Gavin at a distance using the push kick.
Snake shoots for a double leg takedown but Gavin sprawls well. He's pushed Snake's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gavin wants to clinch.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Snake tries to counter with a takedown but Gavin is quick to defend against it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Snake's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Snake seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gavin for as long as he can get away with.

Gavin throws a head kick but Snake moves out of range.
Gavin tries to clinch but fails miserably

so Snake counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Snake content to stall in guard here.

Snake is stalling in the full guard.
Snake is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gavin can do to turn this around?

Gavin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Snake defends well.
Snake is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Snake is pushing down on Gavin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gavin is fighting to maintain full guard but Snake has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Gavin tries for a takedown but Snake sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Snake with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Snake defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gavin.
Gavin shoots for a double leg takedown but Snake sprawls well. He's pushed Gavin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Snake.
Snake gets underhooks to prevent Gavin's takedown attempt.

Gavin pushes Snake off but Snake dives into side control.
Snake is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Gavin wants to control but Snake postures up.

Snake staying calm.
Gavin can't do much from the bottom here.
Gavin is trying to improve his position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Snake just content to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gavin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Gavin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

David Snake showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Snake has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
