Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Thomas (ranked 6727 p4p, 4625 weight class) and Edvaldo Cosme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edvaldo Cosme!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Chris Dean and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cosme takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Thomas throws the left hand but Cosme avoids the punch easily.
Thomas scores with a sloppy right hand. Cosme should have avoided that one.
Thomas slips a jab from Cosme.
Thomas tests Cosme's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Thomas looks to land a combination. Cosme sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Edvaldo Cosme has been cut.
Thomas scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
No joy there for Thomas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Thomas cracks Cosme with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thomas just misses with a punch to the body.
Cosme tries to move into range but Thomas moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Cosme shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cosme showed some decent athleticism there.
Cosme is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Thomas is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Edvaldo Cosme!
Edvaldo Cosme bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
