PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Demuss (ranked 5637 p4p, 1785 weight class) and Rakeem Marley (ranked 622 p4p, 248 weight class). Demuss's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck. Marley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Damian Marley - Welcome to Jamrock kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Demuss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rakeem Marley!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demuss lands a nice hook to Marley's body. Marley takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Demuss with the inside leg kick.
Demuss throws a solid leg kick but Marley takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Demuss.
Demuss displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Marley throws out the jab.
Marley pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Demuss scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Marley manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Demuss keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Marley prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Demuss throws a punch but it's blocked by Marley.
Marley is trying to break free.
Marley swings wildly with an uppercut but Demuss uses good head movement to avoid it.
Marley has had enough of the clinch but Demuss keeps him there for the moment.

Marley staying out of range there.
Demuss avoids the head kick by Marley.

Marley on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Demuss lands a leg kick that knocks Marley off balance momentarily.
Marley ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Demuss moves away.
Demuss thinks about countering with a body kick.

Demuss closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Marley quickly recovers to half guard.

Marley kicks off Demuss and gets to his feet.

It looks like Jake Demuss has been cut.
Demuss just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Demuss throws a poor cross that misses
and Marley counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Marley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A little feinted left hand from Demuss on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Demuss takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Demuss swings for the body but Marley moves out of range.
Marley swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Demuss keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Marley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Demuss circles away quickly and effectively.
Jake Demuss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Demuss tries to clinch up but Marley circles away and keeps his distance.
Demuss misses with a head kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Demuss.
Marley tries to clinch up but Demuss circles away and keeps his distance.
Demuss avoids the head kick by Marley.
Marley on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Demuss uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Marley.
Demuss seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Demuss fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Marley is out of range.
Marley blocks a head kick by Demuss.
Demuss misses with a kick to the body
and Demuss takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Marley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Demuss lands a nice leg kick that just misses Marley's sensitive parts.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marley.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marley misses with a looping right.
Demuss quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Demuss avoids a punch combination nicely.
Demuss needs to keep his hands up - Marley had a free shot at his head there.
Demuss throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marley.
Demuss has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Marley.
Marley throws a right hand that Demuss ducks under and follows up with a left that Demuss also avoids with ease.
Demuss lands with a kick to the ribs.
Demuss throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Demuss takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Marley shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Demuss slips a jab and a cross from Marley.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Demuss lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Marley has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Marley and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Marley feints and then cracks Demuss's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Demuss down.
Marley tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Demuss cracks Marley with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Demuss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Marley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Demuss somewhat.
Demuss throws a lazy head kick
and Marley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Demuss blocks a head kick by Marley.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marley ducks under a wild hook from Demuss.
Marley misses with a double jab.
Marley throws a sloppy head kick and Demuss moves out of range easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rakeem Marley dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jake Demuss's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Demuss lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Marley lands a left and a right that send Demuss crashing to the mat, dazed. Marley thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Demuss is rocked!

Marley clinches with his opponent.
Oh Demuss is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Marley breaks from the clinch.
Demuss seems to have got his legs back now.
Demuss shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marley but Marley pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rakeem Marley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Demuss takes a body punch but keeps moving.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marley grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Demuss takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Marley cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rakeem Marley!
An out of breath Rakeem Marley thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
