Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Jones (ranked 1712 p4p, 3738 weight class) and Earnie Shavers (ranked 253 p4p, 487 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jones might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Say Jack - Andre Nickatina. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ed Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Earnie Shavers! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shavers throws a leg kick and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand! Shavers is looking to slow Jones down with leg kicks. Earnie Shavers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shavers.
Shavers closes the distance but Jones moves to the side and Jones counters with a nice right hand that sends Shavers toppling to the canvas! Shavers scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Jones finish him?! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shavers misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming. Jones digs a good hook to Shavers's body.

and Shavers takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Shavers is rocked! Shavers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones. Jones throws a front kick that sends Shavers stumbling back into the cage. Shavers takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Shavers looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Shavers to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Shavers looks to clinch but Jones throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Shavers taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Ed Jones! After the fight, Ed Jones was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
