PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Justin Case (ranked 1376 p4p, 1078 weight class) and Graham Mantle (ranked 130 p4p, 103 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Case!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Graham Mantle!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mantle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Case takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Mantle rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Case counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mantle's knee momentarily.

Case throws a lazy right hand but Mantle sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Mantle counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Case thinking.

enabling Case to counter with a crisp jab.

and Case cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Case connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Mantle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Case dips to his left and cracks Mantle with an uppercut!
Case ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mantle moves away.
Mantle tries to clinch up but Case circles away and keeps his distance.
Case changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mantle's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mantle duly obliges.
Mantle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Case as he avoids it easily.
Graham Mantle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mantle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mantle closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Case is staying active underneath Mantle, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Case is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mantle asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Well Mantle has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
