Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Steve (ranked 2377 p4p, 2801 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 309 p4p, 354 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Steve!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve lands with a thumping leg kick.
Steve scoring well with a low kick there.
Duggan loads up on a big right hand but Steve slips the punch.
Duggan thows a left - swing and a miss!
Duggan missing with a left hand there. Steve was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A solid leg kick lands there for Steve.
Duggan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Duggan checks a leg kick.
Steve displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Duggan throws out the jab.

Steve takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Steve looks to score with a jab to the body but Duggan is just out of range.
Duggan has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Duggan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Steve can pounce on him.

Duggan shoots for a takedown but Steve saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Duggan's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Duggan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steve connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Duggan scrambles back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Duggan will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Duggan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Steve defends well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Duggan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steve gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jim Duggan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

A looping hook to the body misses from Steve. Duggan does a little dance to reset his feet.
Duggan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A chopping leg kick lands by Duggan.

Steve gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Duggan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Duggan feints and as Steve raises his hands in defense, Duggan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Steve is looking to wear down Duggan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

As Duggan backs away, Steve returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Steve with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Duggan to score with a decent uppercut.
Steve's corner calls for a 1-2. Steve obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Steve uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Duggan.
It looked like Steve was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Duggan counters with a stiff right hand.
Duggan throws a body punch but Steve moves out of range.
Duggan lands a right hook to the body.
Steve throws a low kick but Duggan moves out of range easily.
Steve lands a leg kick that knocks Duggan off balance momentarily.

Steve fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Duggan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Well Duggan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
