Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Karl Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sargent Slaughter!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Anderson has closed the distance and engaged Slaughter in a clinch.
Slaughter drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Slaughter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Anderson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Anderson cracks Slaughter with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
It looks like Sargent Slaughter has been cut.
Slaughter tries to close the distance and clinch but Anderson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Anderson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Slaughter momentarily.
Slaughter throws a predictable looking body shot
and Anderson moves into the clinch.
Anderson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Slaughter blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Slaughter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Slaughter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Anderson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Anderson connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Slaughter covering up! Anderson comes in with a big uppercut and Slaughter goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Karl Anderson!
An out of breath Karl Anderson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
