Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Harrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roberto Karson! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karson throws a sloppy head kick and Harrison moves out of range easily. Karson tries to clinch up but Harrison circles away and keeps his distance. Karson throws a wild body kick that Harrison sees coming a mile off. Horrible takedown by Karson or perhaps it was just good defense by Harrison which made him look bad. Karson swinging wilding here.
Karson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harrison's waist but Harrison gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Karson off to one side. Karson tries a head kick but it misses.
Karson fails to land the takedown. John Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Karson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Karson throws a head kick that misses. Karson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Harrison scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harrison takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Karson trying to control here.
Harrison controlling the action here. Harrison is nestled in close to Karson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Karson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Karson trying to control here.
Karson is trying to get back to full guard. Karson looks gassed! Karson wants to get back to his feet. Karson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Harrison works his way into side control. Harrison in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harrison in side control, just content to control the action for now. Harrison is working Karson over with some ground and pound from side control. Harrison is working to tighten is grip on Karson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Karson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Harrison is really squeezing tight and eventually Karson passes out! Harrison breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). John Harrison!
