Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Gere!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Edvards Berzina!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berzina shoots in and drives through. Gere sprawls well.
Gere takes the fight into the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Gere as Berzina tries to tie him up.
Gere's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gere lands a left and a right that send Berzina crashing to the mat, dazed. Gere thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Berzina is rocked!
It looks like Edvards Berzina has been cut.
A head kick misses from Gere.
Berzina feints the counter takedown.
Berzina is still on wobbly legs! Can Gere finish him?
Gere throws a right and a left that Berzina avoids nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gere closes the distance looking for a takedown. Berzina stuffs it but Gere still has hold of him. Gere picks Berzina up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Gere slams Berzina to the floor and that's really hurt Berzina - he doesn't know where he is! Gere throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Gere!
