The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira with a lazy takedown attempt

and Thorne holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Thorne manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Oliveira being controlled against the cage.
Oliveira fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Oliveira is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Kip Thorne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Oliveira.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Oliveira goes for a takedown attempt but Thorne pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Thorne holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Oliveira has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Thorne after a bit of a struggle.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Oliveira is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Thorne pulls him back up using the underhooks.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Kip Thorne.
Nice takedown defense from Thorne. No joy for Oliveira on that attempt.
Oliveira closes the distance and clinches up with Thorne, looking for a takedown. Oliveira pushes Thorne against the cage but Thorne circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Thorne counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thorne.

Thorne has Oliveira pushed against the cage.
Thorne slowing the pace effectively.
Oliveira jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thorne walks away with a smile on his face. Oliveira gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Oliveira shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thorne as he jumps to the side.
Thorne displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Oliveira.

and Thorne counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thorne.

Oliveira ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Oliveira no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Thorne controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Thorne might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Oliveira is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Thorne trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Oliveira has his foot on Thorne's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thorne works his way back into a safe position though.

Thorne avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Oliveira pushes a forearm under Thorne's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Thorne is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Charles Oliveira!
