Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Wells! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robbie Lawler! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Lawler looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wells ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Lawler gets in close and instigates a clinch. Lawler pulls guard effortlessly. Wells stops Lawler from standing up. Lawler looks gassed! Wells is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wells passes easily into side control. Nice work. Wells is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Lawler is trying to escape and Wells transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Lawler is forced to tap! Nice work there by Wells! Very nice indeed!
