Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Kimura (ranked 3014 p4p, 3338 weight class) and Karl Karjalainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karl Karjalainen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Karl Karjalainen!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karjalainen throws a looping overhand right but Kimura ducks down to avoid it.
An attempted straight right counter from Kimura misses the target.
Karjalainen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Karjalainen there as he acknowledges the shot.

It looks like Karl Karjalainen has been cut.
A cross from Karjalainen lands.

It looks like Gunnar Kimura has been cut.
Kimura is looking to clinch but Karjalainen is avoiding it.
Karjalainen is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Karjalainen throws a front kick that sends Kimura stumbling back into the cage.
Kimura lands with a nice body punch.
Kimura misses the jab.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kimura. Karjalainen shrugs it off though.
Kimura fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Karjalainen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Kimura lands a nice hook to Karjalainen's body. Karjalainen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Karjalainen misses with a straight right.
Kimura throws a sloppy head kick and Karjalainen moves out of range easily.
Karjalainen stalks Kimura and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kimura's face. Kimura staggers backwards, shaken.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kimura. That's going to slow Karjalainen down.
Kimura misses with a right hand
and Karjalainen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kimura slips a straight right by Karjalainen.

Kimura looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Karjalainen avoids the head kick by Kimura.
Kimura misses with a jab to the body
and Karjalainen counters with an inside leg kick.
Kimura takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Karjalainen throws a nice inside leg kick.

and Kimura takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kimura misses with a kick to the body.

Kimura misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Karjalainen.
A slapping body kick lands there for Karjalainen.
Kimura misses with a head kick.
Karjalainen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Karjalainen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Karjalainen's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kimura under the eye.

Kimura connects with the punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kimura. Karjalainen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kimura throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Karjalainen counters with a three punch combo that has Kimura backing up. Kimura nods at Karjalainen to acknowledge the strikes.

Gunnar Kimura's cut is getting worse.
Kimura throws a hook to the side of Karjalainen's head but Karjalainen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Karjalainen flicks out a counter leg kick but Kimura steps away.
Kimura connects with a crisp jab.

That has opened up Karl Karjalainen's cut even more.
Karjalainen's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kimura under the eye.
Karjalainen feints and then cracks Kimura's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kimura down.
Kimura fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Karjalainen manages to avoid it.
Karjalainen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
The crowd cheers as Kimura lands an impressive looking overhand right. Karjalainen doesn't seem phased though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Karjalainen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Karjalainen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Karjalainen takes one to the side of the head.
Kimura tests Karjalainen's chin there with a solid looking shot.

The cut above Karl Karjalainen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kimura swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Karjalainen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kimura thinking.
Kimura scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kimura takes a jab right on the kisser.

Gunnar Kimura's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Good exchange - Karjalainen coming out on top.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kimura.
Kimura showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Karjalainen.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kimura tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Karjalainen was well out of range. Poor timing from Kimura.
It seemed like Karjalainen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gunnar Kimura will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kimura throws a leg kick but Karjalainen sees it coming and moves out of range.

Kimura throws a counter high kick but Karjalainen was just alert enough to avoid it.

Karjalainen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kimura moves away.

Karl Karjalainen's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Kimura fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Karjalainen, pushing him back against the cage.

Karjalainen can't find room to land a body shot as Kimura controls the action.
Kimura tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Karjalainen cracks Kimura with a nice body shot.
Karjalainen scores with a nice hook to the head.

Kimura tries a body shot but Karjalainen blocks it.
Kimura misses with a hook to the ribs.
Karjalainen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Karjalainen pushes Kimura back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Karjalainen lands on the inside with an uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kimura.

Karjalainen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Karjalainen throws a looping overhand right but Kimura ducks down to avoid it.
Gunnar Kimura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karjalainen misses with a shot to the body
and Kimura counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kimura lands a head kick. Karjalainen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kimura tries to clinch up
and Karjalainen counters with a thumping low kick.
Kimura throws a sloppy head kick and Karjalainen moves out of range easily.
A countering left hand to the body from Karjalainen misses.
Karjalainen misses with an attempted mid kick.
Karjalainen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kimura keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kimura swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kimura backing away here, and Karjalainen unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Kimura on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Jeez, Gunnar Kimura's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Karjalainen. Kimura shrugs it off though.
Kimura fails in his attempt to clinch.
Karjalainen lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Karjalainen cracks Kimura with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kimura looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Karjalainen finish him?

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gunnar Kimura's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Karl Karjalainen!
Karl Karjalainen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
