Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ivar Kvick! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jorge Santa Perez! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santa Perez clinches up with Kvick and pushes him back against the cage. Santa Perez tries to pull guard but Kvick holds him up against the cage and eventually Santa Perez drops back down to his feet.
Santa Perez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kvick to keep the fight standing. Kvick works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Santa Perez has his foot on Kvick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kvick works his way back into a safe position though. Kvick trying to control the position from guard on top but Santa Perez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kvick chips away with some ground and pound. Kvick scoring with punches to the head and body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kvick lands a couple of digs. Kvick makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kvick tries to free his leg and advance position but Santa Perez is retaining full guard. Santa Perez is looking for a triangle but Kvick pushes his legs off easily.
Santa Perez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kvick defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kvick makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kvick is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Kvick distracts Santa Perez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Kvick avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kvick postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Santa Perez working for a triangle but Kvick defends it easily.
Kvick is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santa Perez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kvick defends well. Kvick postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Kvick working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Santa Perez's head. Santa Perez has his feet on Kvick's thighs here. He's pushed Kvick off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Kvick screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
