Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Diatomaceous Smiff (ranked 25370 p4p, 2565 weight class) and Island Black Bear (ranked 742 p4p, 356 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Diatomaceous Smiff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Island Black Bear!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black Bear steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smiff.
Smiff has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smiff tries to throw a body punch but Black Bear avoids it by throwing Smiff back against the cage.
Smiff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smiff has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Smiff keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Black Bear changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smiff looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Smiff is trying to improve his position.
Black Bear in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Black Bear should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Black Bear throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Black Bear told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Black Bear stands and throws Smiff's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Smiff manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Black Bear has his hands clasped together around Smiff's back. He's all about the action.

Smiff looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Black Bear with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Black Bear can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smiff is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Black Bear lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Smiff is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Black Bear defends well.

Black Bear really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smiff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Black Bear shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Black Bear working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Smiff's thigh. Smiff counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Black Bear wants to control from the top but Smiff keeps moving.
Smiff working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Black Bear has passed into half guard!

Let's hope that Black Bear has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Black Bear has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Black Bear seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Smiff tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Black Bear manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Island Black Bear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Black Bear shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smiff sprawls well. Smiff wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Black Bear gets slowly back to his feet.
Smiff uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Black Bear.
Black Bear throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smiff dives in for a single leg takedown but Black Bear sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Smiff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Smiff tries to land knees in the clinch but Black Bear avoids the damage to the body.
Smiff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smiff fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Black Bear avoids it really well and circles away.
Black Bear shoots for a double leg takedown but Smiff sprawls well. He's pushed Black Bear's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Diatomaceous Smiff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Island Black Bear.
Smiff tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Black Bear was well out of range. Poor timing from Smiff.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Diatomaceous Smiff will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Black Bear is staying active underneath Smiff, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Black Bear throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smiff tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Black Bear is in Smiff's guard.
Smiff escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Black Bear gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Black Bear is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Diatomaceous Smiff.
I think Smiff has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
