Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vicer Fobbs (ranked 5271 p4p, 5208 weight class) and Ian Gary (ranked 587 p4p, 584 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vicer Fobbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ian Gary!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fobbs scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Ian Gary has been cut.
Fobbs fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And Gary tries to counter it with a takedown but Fobbs pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Fobbs closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gary's guard.

Gary wants to sweep but no luck.
Fobbs postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Fobbs drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fobbs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fobbs is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gary is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fobbs is on top in guard.

Gary has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Fobbs.

Fobbs is working Gary over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fobbs takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Fobbs seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gary for as long as he can get away with.
Fobbs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gary with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fobbs looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Fobbs's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Fobbs has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gary has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Fobbs is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gary can't fight it off and eventually Fobbs manages to take the fight to the floor. Gary looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

so Fobbs counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gary is breathing heavily.
Fobbs pushes down on Gary's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Fobbs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Gary defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Fobbs.
Fobbs is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gary to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gary shrugs it off.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gary shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fobbs pinned against the cage. Fobbs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Fobbs is taking a breather. Gary says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gary is looking to stand back up but Fobbs counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Gary.
Fobbs perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Fobbs is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Fobbs is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gary!

Fobbs cracks Gary with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Fobbs takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fobbs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fobbs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gary can do to turn this around?
