Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nils Hoglander (ranked 1557 p4p, 1852 weight class) and Paulo Lima (ranked 201 p4p, 228 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nils Hoglander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paulo Lima! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoglander connects with a right hand. Lima shakes it off. Lima uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hoglander. Lima drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hoglander defends it well. Lima on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lima looks to clinch and Hoglander counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Nils Hoglander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hoglander connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Lima tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice defenses there by Lima. Hoglander scores with a jab to the jaw. Hoglander slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Hoglander lands with an uppercut that bounces Lima off the cage and back into range. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hoglander moves out of range of the leg kick from Lima.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoglander lands with a good body shot. Hoglander throws an overhand right that lands on Lima's shoulder, as Lima tries to avoid the shot. Hoglander gets tackled into the cage by Lima. Lima maintains the clinch. Hoglander lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Hoglander breaks from the clinch.

Hoglander looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hoglander wants to stand but Lima is controlling his posture from full guard. Lima isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hoglander stacks Lima on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hoglander!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lima is trying to improve his position. Lima is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hoglander off and has taken his back! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lima tries to get the hooks in deep but Hoglander pushed the leg off. Lima has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hoglander has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Lima is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Hoglander is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lima gets his way!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoglander wants to get back to his feet. Lima working for a choke but Hoglander reverses nicely into Lima 's guard. Lima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hoglander doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hoglander manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Lima controls Hoglander momentarily but Hoglander frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lima is looking for a triangle but Hoglander pushes his legs off easily.

Hoglander controls from within his opponent's guard. Lima told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nils Hoglander dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Hoglander throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hoglander looks to land a right hand but Lima moved out of range. Lima is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Hoglander connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lima. Lima circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Hoglander throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hoglander digs a good body shot into Lima's ribs. Lima looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Hoglander looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hoglander is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lima can do to turn this around? Hoglander thows a left - swing and a miss! Hoglander circles away from the clinch attempt.
An attempted straight right counter from Hoglander misses the target. Hoglander throws an overhand right that lands on Lima's shoulder, as Lima tries to avoid the shot. And Lima tries to counter it with a takedown but Hoglander pushes his down on his head and steps out. Lima gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Nils Hoglander is winning the standup battle so far. Lima moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. A low kick from Lima is predictable there and Hoglander counters with a beautiful punch that sends Lima to the canvas!
Lima is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lima had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hoglander defends it easily. Lima is still in real trouble! Can Hoglander finish him? Lima has a closed guard, preventing Hoglander from standing up. Lima seems to have recovered his senses.

Hoglander not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lima throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hoglander uses it to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoglander decides to stand back up. Hoglander steps back and let's Lima get back to his feet. Lima takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Hoglander connects with a single shot there. Hoglander throws a hook but Lima blocks it. And Lima tries to counter it with a takedown but Hoglander pushes his down on his head and steps out. A combination from Hoglander does no damage. Hoglander's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lima under the eye. Hoglander with a nice cross. Lima closes the distance looking to clinch and Hoglander counters with a big uppercut that knocks Lima off his feet! Hoglander dives into side control looking to finish! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Nils Hoglander dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! Hoglander closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Lima! Hoglander dives in looking to finish! Lima is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nils Hoglander! Nils Hoglander decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
