Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Kaizer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monty Panesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monty Panesar has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Chris Kaizer's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Kaizer!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Monty Panesar!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaizer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Panesar tries to avoid it but Kaizer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Panesar to the ground. Panesar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Panesar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kaizer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kaizer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Panesar can't keep his opponent in guard - Kaizer advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Panesar wants to get back to his feet.
Kaizer wants to control but Panesar is keeping him busy.
Panesar wants to get back to full guard.
Panesar is refusing to be controlled, as Kaizer sits in half guard.
Kaizer looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Kaizer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Panesar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kaizer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kaizer is looking for a kimura but Panesar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kaizer to get the leverage.

Kaizer wants to work for an arm triangle but Panesar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Panesar tries to get to full guard but Kaizer has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Kaizer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Panesar preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Panesar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaizer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kaizer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Panesar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kaizer wants to control from the top but Panesar keeps moving.

Kaizer won't allow Panesar to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kaizer gets a takedown into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kaizer works his foot free and advances to mount.
Panesar avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kaizer.

Kaizer stands up from mount. Strange move.
Kaizer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Panesar counters by moving into the clinch.
Panesar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kaizer gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Chris Kaizer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Monty Panesar.
Kaizer tries to pull guard but Panesar holds him up against the cage and eventually Kaizer drops back down to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Kaizer dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Kaizer darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Panesar keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kaizer could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Panesar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Panesar wants to control but Kaizer is keeping busy.

Panesar is trying to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Panesar pushes Kaizer off looking to stand but Kaizer dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaizer is trying to control the action in half guard but Panesar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Panesar fails with the takedown

and Kaizer counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Panesar is trying to control but can't.
Kaizer stops Panesar from getting back to his feet.
Kaizer works his way into side control.

Panesar sneaks out the side door and pushes Kaizer away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Panesar tries to clinch up but Kaizer circles away and keeps his distance.

and Kaizer counters with a shoot takedown. Panesar fights it but they end up in guard.

Kaizer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Panesar dives on top into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kaizer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Panesar is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kaizer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Panesar's back instead.

Panesar is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Kaizer working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Panesar is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Kaizer has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Panesar taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chris Kaizer!
