And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Baez!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nishihara misses with a body shot.
Baez clobbers Nishihara with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Baez connects with a single shot there.
Baez stalks Nishihara and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nishihara's face. Nishihara staggers backwards, shaken.
Baez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Baez scores with a jab to the head.
Baez swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Nishihara misses with a lunging right hand
and Baez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nishihara fails with a takedown attempt.

Baez lands a lovely overhand right.
Baez's corner calls for a 1-2. Baez obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Nishihara throws an off balance right hand
and Baez counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Baez lands with a nice body punch.
Baez is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Nishihara had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Baez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Nishihara looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Baez slips under a jab from Nishihara.
Baez tests Nishihara's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Baez lands a nice hook to Nishihara's body. Nishihara takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Baez ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Miguel Baez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nishihara jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Baez lands a left and a right that send Nishihara crashing to the mat, dazed. Baez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oh Nishihara is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nishihara takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Baez darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Nishihara's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Baez before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

A relieved looking Miguel Baez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
