PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikie Lee (ranked 2168 p4p, 2668 weight class) and Simon Adebisi (ranked 278 p4p, 338 weight class). Lee comes into the arena with Welcome to the Jungle blaring out of the sound system. Mikie Lee has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikie Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Adebisi!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adebisi closes the distance and clinches up with Lee, looking for a takedown. Adebisi pushes Lee against the cage but Lee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Adebisi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lee to the ground. Adebisi is now in Lee's guard.
Lee seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Lee controls Adebisi momentarily but Adebisi frees himself.
Adebisi tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Lee can't keep his opponent in guard - Adebisi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Lee holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Lee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adebisi is working away from the top position though.

Well, if Adebisi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Adebisi stalling away here and it's allowed Lee to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lee wants to stand but Adebisi is controlling his posture from full guard.

Adebisi has his foot on Lee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lee works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Mikie Lee will probably get the nod.

Adebisi takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Simon Adebisi has been cut.
Adebisi dives in and grabs Lee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes down on Adebisi's head and hops out.
Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Adebisi darts in looking for a takedown but Lee gets double underhooks and turns Adebisi into the cage.
Adebisi shoots in for a double leg but Lee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mikie Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Adebisi.
No luck for Adebisi with that takedown attempt.
Lee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A clash of legs there as Adebisi blocks the low kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Adebisi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Adebisi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lee's guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Adebisi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Adebisi is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Lee off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Lee's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
