Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Old Vet (ranked 5408 p4p, 5553 weight class) and Infection Purpose (ranked 444 p4p, 449 weight class). Old Vet had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Old Vet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Infection Purpose!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vet throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A left lands for Vet.
Purpose clinches.
Purpose jumps guard.
Purpose escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vet gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Purpose looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vet is one step ahead there.
Purpose has his hands on Vet's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vet working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Purpose's head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Purpose looking for subs off his back but Vet has passed one foot through into half guard.
Vet working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Purpose trying to control from the bottom.
Vet has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Purpose is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vet is looking to take a break and control but Purpose is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vet prevents Purpose from improving his position.
Vet thows a huge punch but Purpose dodges it nicely.
Vet works his way into full mount!
Vet pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vet can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Purpose is looking to escape.
Vet takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Purpose tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Vet tries to control but Purpose wriggling away.
Purpose tries to hold on but Vet pushes him away.
Vet is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Purpose has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Vet with the ground and pound from mount.
Purpose is looking to get to half guard.
Vet trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Purpose can't escape the position.
Purpose wants to hold on but Vet pushes him away.
Purpose is squirming around, avoiding Vet's attempts to control the action.
Purpose is desperately trying to improve his position but Vet has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Purpose is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Vet with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Purpose forces Vet back against the cage and clinches.
Purpose prevents Vet from breaking the clinch.
Vet breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Purpose rushes Vet and presses him up against the cage.
Purpose keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Vet's efforts to push away.

Purpose throws out a powerful jab.
Vet looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Purpose throws a head kick that misses.
Vet fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Purpose checks it well.
Purpose wants to counter the offense by Vet and move into the clinch position.
Vet is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Purpose can do to turn this around?

and Purpose counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vet misses with a looping right.
A nice side step and Purpose releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Purpose forces Vet back against the cage and clinches.

Purpose blocks an elbow strike from Vet.
Purpose is pressed up against the cage. Vet has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Purpose down to the mat. Purpose avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Purpose rushes Vet and presses him up against the cage.

Vet is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Purpose is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vet defends well.
Purpose keeping moving, preventing Vet from controlling successfully.

Vet drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Purpose manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vet has Purpose in his guard.
Purpose chips away with some ground and pound.
Purpose is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Vet is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Vet takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Vet winds up and cracks Purpose with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Vet wants to pass to mount but Purpose is defending the position.
Purpose is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vet wants to lay and pray for a moment but Purpose keeps working.
Purpose wants to improve his position but Vet is controlling well.
Purpose tries to kick Vet off but Vet keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vet is trying to control the action in half guard but Purpose is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Vet slows the pace down in half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Infection Purpose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Vet throws a head kick but Purpose moves out of range.
Purpose shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vet's guard.
Vet is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Purpose presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Purpose keeps control of Vet as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Purpose gets control of Vet's arms and successfully pulls guard. Purpose will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Purpose gets underhooks to prevent Vet's takedown attempt.
