Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ping Lacson (ranked 5017 p4p, 6618 weight class) and James Baxter (ranked 516 p4p, 629 weight class). James Baxter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ping Lacson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Baxter! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baxter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Baxter fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Lacson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Lacson shoots in and drives through. Baxter sprawls well. We've been informed that Baxter has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Lacson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Baxter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lacson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lacson drops an elbow to the side of Baxter's head. Baxter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lacson scores with a couple of nice shots. Lacson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Baxter is defending against the submission attempts here by Lacson.
Baxter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lacson trying to control the pace. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baxter can do anything to dispel that myth. Lacson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Lacson wants to control but Baxter is keeping him busy. Lacson controlling the pace. Lacson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lacson wants to work for an arm triangle but Baxter is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lacson working Baxter over with strikes. Baxter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lacson is working away from the top position though.

Lacson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Baxter could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Lacson has cracked it and Baxter is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Lacson!
