Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Taz Brown (ranked 2931 p4p, 2830 weight class) and Davey Hilton Jr (ranked 178 p4p, 171 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Taz Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Davey Hilton Jr!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws a lazy uppercut

and Hilton Jr moves into the clinch.

Brown jumps guard and drags Hilton Jr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hilton Jr wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.
Hilton Jr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brown has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hilton Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hilton Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hilton Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Brown has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Hilton Jr remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Taz Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Taz Brown.
