Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lee Fury! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Jonson! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Fury or perhaps it was just good defense by Jonson which made him look bad. Jonson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jonson stands up and we're back to a striking position. Fury with a poor takedown and Jonson counters with a single leg into guard. Fury didn't expect that. Jonson postures up.
Jonson gets to his feet - Fury follows without any prompting. Jonson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Jonson moves into range and clinches up with Fury. Jonson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Fury is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jonson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Fury. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fury tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fury fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jonson breaks from the clinch.
Fury with a lazy takedown attempt and Jonson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Fury is defending against the submission attempts here by Jonson.
Fury wants to get back to full guard but Jonson has passed into side control. Jonson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Fury closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jonson to the mat! Jonson manages to get full guard. Fury is looking to stand up but Jonson won't let him. Fury is breathing heavily. Jonson is looking to stand up but Fury isn't so interested in that idea. Fury is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jonson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Fury is looking to defend but Jonson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Fury! Jonson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Fury taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dan Jonson!
