PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Rawlins (ranked 4700 p4p, 4615 weight class) and Lord Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lord Green!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Chris Dean and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rawlins sprawls well. Rawlins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Green gets slowly back to his feet.

Rawlins has managed to clinch.

Rawlins breaks the clinch.
Green fails with a takedown attempt.
Rawlins tries to counter by clinching up but Green breaks away and moves out of range.
Rawlins throws a nice looking combination but Green bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rawlins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rawlins wants it to stay on the feet.
Bob Rawlins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lord Green.

Green should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rawlins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Green quickly recovers to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rawlins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Green looking for a sweep. Not yet Green, not yet.
Rawlins postures up.

Rawlins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Green is proving hard to escape from.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Green doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Rawlins counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Green jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rawlins walks away with a smile on his face. Green gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Green is looking for a takedown.

Rawlins is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Green can't fight it off and eventually Rawlins manages to take the fight to the floor. Green looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Green has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Rawlins is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Green goes for a takedown attempt but Rawlins pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Rawlins closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Green's guard.

Rawlins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Rawlins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Green is on top in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Green gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Rawlins counters with a shoot takedown. Green fights it but they end up in guard.
Green bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rawlins's guard.

Green wants to pass the guard but Rawlins is keeping the position.
Rawlins keeping moving, preventing Green from controlling successfully.

Green is nestled in close to Rawlins, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Green scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rawlins to see if he's OK.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bob Rawlins's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

After winning the bout, Lord Green thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
