PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 2011 p4p, 2214 weight class) and Pertti Palo (ranked 118 p4p, 129 weight class). Dux comes to the cage accompanied by Bloodsport. Pertti Palo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pertti Palo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Palo has his hands on Dux's head, controlling the position.
Palo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Palo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dux working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Dux tries to free his leg and advance position but Palo is retaining full guard.
Palo is trying to keep Dux in close.
Palo wants to sweep here but Dux controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dux changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palo tries to avoid it but Dux manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palo to the ground. Palo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Palo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Palo connects with a body shot.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dux tries to move into range but Palo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Dux is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Palo's half guard.
Dux thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Palo's head.

Dux has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Palo wants to control but Dux is keeping busy.

Dux shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Palo's guard.

Dux will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Palo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dux's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dux's back!

Even with his hooks in, Palo manages to miss with strikes from the back.
You can see the frustration on Dux's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Dux is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Silverback MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Frank Dux overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Palo wants to pass to mount but Dux is defending the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dux is controlling Palo's trapped leg to prevent Palo from advancing to side control.
Palo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Pertti Palo will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Palo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dux as he jumps to the side.
Dux tries to counter with a takedown but Palo is quick to defend against it.
Palo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dux sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Dux is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Palo can do to turn this around?
Dux leaves Palo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Frank Dux has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pertti Palo.

Dux cracks Palo with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Dux scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Palo is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Dux can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Dux!
After winning the bout, Frank Dux thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
