Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Jones (ranked 4204 p4p, 4694 weight class) and Chad Billingsly (ranked 504 p4p, 536 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chad Billingsly! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Billingsly throws out a loose jab but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it. Jones dodges the punch combination from Billingsly.
Jones fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Billingsly to the ground. Jones is now in Billingsly's guard. Jones prevents Billingsly from getting back to his feet. Jones definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Jones forces his way into half guard. Billingsly makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Billingsly. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones controls from within his opponent's guard. Billingsly wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Billingsly trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Jones throwing strikes but missing. Jones stops Billingsly from standing up. Jones landing some decent shots from guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Billingsly can do anything to dispel that myth. Billingsly has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle. Jones sitting in guard here, content to control. Jones keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Billingsly's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Billingsly works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Billingsly has control of Jones's left arm, preventing Jones from doing any damage. Jones prevents Billingsly from getting back to his feet. Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Billingsly pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Jones stays in close to Billingsly's body and controls the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Billingsly swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
Billingsly takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Jones dodges the punch combination from Billingsly.
Jones tries to keep at a distance but Billingsly has taken the fight into the clinch. Jones prevents a body shot from Billingsly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Billingsly scores with a shot to the side of Jones's head. Billingsly lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jones backwards. Billingsly misses with a short punch on the inside. Jones blocking some punches.

Billingsly working some nice short punches in the clinch. Billingsly throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Billingsly is leaning against Jones and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Billingsly misses with a short punch on the inside. Billingsly lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Jones blocks a body shot from Billingsly. Billingsly lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Billingsly can't find room to land a body shot as Jones controls the action.
Billingsly throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Joness head. Still in the clinch, Billingsly scores with a nice short uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A head punch on the inside from Billingsly fails to land. Jones blocks a body shot from Billingsly. Billingsly scores with a shot to the side of Jones's head. Billingsly tries to work over Jones's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Jones tries to pull guard but Billingsly won't allow it.
Billingsly tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Jones wants to get back to striking at distance but Billingsly won't allow it.
Billingsly lands a nice uppercut. A right hook to the body lands for Billingsly.
Billingsly misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Billingsly goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Billingsly escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Billingsly lands a left and a right that send Jones crashing to the mat, dazed. Billingsly thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Jones is rocked!
It looks like Mark Jones has been cut. Jones glances at the clock... BAM! Billingsly nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Jones crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Jones is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
