The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Dagestanskiy moves into the clinch. Dagestanskiy has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gracias regains guard immediately. Dagestanskiy wants to control from the top but Gracias keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dagestanskiy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dagestanskiy preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracias has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Dagestanskiy should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gracias has tightened it up now! Dagestanskiy should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Helio Gracias! Our winner, Helio Gracias, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. |
