Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Deacon Fries (ranked 2191 p4p, 3802 weight class) and Ari Katajamaki (ranked 127 p4p, 222 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Deacon Fries!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ari Katajamaki!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katajamaki fails to land the takedown.
Fries swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Fries fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Katajamaki, pushing him back against the cage.
Fries content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Katajamaki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fries is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Katajamaki changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fries fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Fries leaves Katajamaki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Katajamaki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fries's waist but Fries gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Katajamaki off to one side.

Fries unloads with some shots from mount but Katajamaki bucks and avoids them well.
Deacon Fries overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fries throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Katajamaki because Fries loaded up on that one.
Fries misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Katajamaki tries to lock up and control but Fries gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

I would just about give that final round to Ari Katajamaki.
