Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kimmo Peramaki (ranked 1243 p4p, 1395 weight class) and Darrell Newsome (ranked 172 p4p, 192 weight class). Darrell Newsome has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kimmo Peramaki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darrell Newsome!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peramaki slips under a jab.
Peramaki is looking to counter the offense by Newsome and move into the clinch.

Newsome gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Peramaki tries to pull guard but Newsome forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Peramaki has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Newsome is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Peramaki.

We've been hearing good reports from Peramaki's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Newsome really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peramaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Peramaki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Newsome doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Newsome manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Peramaki had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Newsome defends it easily.

Newsome avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Peramaki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Newsome is aware though and is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Peramaki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kimmo Peramaki will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Peramaki tries to pull guard but Newsome holds him up against the cage and eventually Peramaki drops back down to his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kimmo Peramaki. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newsome is working Peramaki over against the cage.
Newsome scores with a shot to the side of Peramaki's head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Newsome creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Newsome lands a hook that snaps the head of Peramaki backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Peramaki tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Newsome smiles and moves away.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Newsome! But no joy.

Peramaki moves in looking to clinch but Newsome pushes him off.
Newsome looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Newsome works the jab nicely.
Newsome circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Peramaki tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Newsome wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Darrell Newsome!
