Boeykens is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by MMA Entrance Music / Dustin Poirier. Frederick Payette has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dries Boeykens!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boeykens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A swing and a miss from Payette.

Payette gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Payette tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Boeykens's elbow.
Payette struggles to land a body shot inside as Boeykens controls his hands.

Boeykens turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Boeykens manages to end up in side control.

Boeykens decides to stand back up. Boeykens steps back and let's Payette get back to his feet.
Frederick Payette is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Payette dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Payette instigates a clinch.
Payette lands a right hand.
Payette misses with a hook to the ribs.
A right hook to the body lands for Payette.
Payette scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Boeykens breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boeykens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Boeykens takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Payette closes the distance and clinches.
Payette lands a body shot in the clinch.
Boeykens looks winded!
Payette lands a hook to the side of the head.

Payette manages to break the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boeykens doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Payette counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Boeykens is rocked!
Frederick Payette has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dries Boeykens.
Payette changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
