PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abdul Keji (ranked 1178 p4p, 1423 weight class) and Richard Anderson (ranked 34 p4p, 39 weight class). Richard Anderson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abdul Keji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Anderson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Richard Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anderson thuds a left hand into Keji's body.
Keji misses the shot to the body.
Anderson lands a body shot.
Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Keji paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Keji moves out of range of the strikes.
Keji was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Keji has been working on his boxing with his coaches at BLK Elite MMA Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Anderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Keji moves away.
Nice shot by Keji.

It looks like Richard Anderson has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keji throws a hook to the side of Anderson's head but Anderson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Anderson misses with a right hand
and Keji counters with a left to the body.
Anderson misses with a wild body shot.
A little feinted left hand from Keji on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Anderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Keji moves away.
A counter left hand to the body from Keji misses its target.
Keji jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anderson misses with a low kick.
Anderson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Keji counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Keji scores with a decent looking hook.
Anderson throws a looping overhand right but Keji ducks down to avoid it.
Anderson defending well as Keji loads up on a big left hand.
Anderson let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Anderson getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Anderson moves out of range of the strikes.
Anderson now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
A swing and a miss from Anderson.
Keji is looking to counter punch.
Anderson wants to clinch.
It looked like Keji wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Keji paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

That has opened up Richard Anderson's cut even more.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Keji keeps the fight on the outside.
An attempted straight right counter from Keji misses the target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Anderson.
Anderson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Keji's sensitive parts.
Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Keji swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Anderson pushes Keji up against the cage in a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Keji pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Keji really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Anderson misses with a shot to the body
and Keji counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Anderson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Keji wants to break the clinch but can't.
Keji letting Anderson take a breather here.
Anderson has a couple of punches blocked by Keji.
Keji prevents a body shot from Anderson.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Keji breaks from the clinch.
Anderson misses the jab.
Anderson darts in trying to clinch
and Keji counters with a nice uppercut.

The cut above Richard Anderson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Anderson tries to clinch but Keji is having none of it.
Anderson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Keji counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Anderson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Anderson misses with a left hand
and Keji counters with a stiff right hand.

Richard Anderson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Keji lands with a straight right. Anderson didn't see that one coming.
Anderson slips a straight right by Keji.
Anderson misses with a hook
and Anderson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Richard Anderson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Abdul Keji!
Abdul Keji decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
