Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Summers (ranked 2036 p4p, 2236 weight class) and Happy Chukwudu (ranked 256 p4p, 283 weight class). Chukwudu is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rooster. Happy Chukwudu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samuel Summers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Happy Chukwudu! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Summers lands with a shot to the body. Summers walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Summers moves away from the strike by Chukwudu. Chukwudu displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Summers throws out the jab. Chukwudu misses with a body shot
and Summers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Chukwudu fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chukwudu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Summers lands with a right to the head. Summers blocking some punches.
Summers misses with a hook from the clinch. Summers blocks a body shot from Chukwudu. Summers lands with a left to the head. Summers throws a head punch that misses. Summers has a couple of punches blocked by Chukwudu.
Chukwudu lands a nice uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chukwudu blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Chukwudu has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Summers uses from the top position. Summers looking to sit in guard and control but Chukwudu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Summers keeping moving, preventing Chukwudu from controlling successfully. Summers has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Summers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chukwudu is one step ahead there. Summers keeping full guard, as Chukwudu tries to pass. Chukwudu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Summers looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Summers looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Summers!
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Summers is staying tight to Chukwudu's torso, preventing him from escaping. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chukwudu is looking for a sweep. Summers happy to just control the position for now. Chukwudu is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chukwudu tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Summers presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Chukwudu is wriggling around trying to escape.
Chukwudu gets back to half guard. Summers is keen to just control but Chukwudu is a slippery customer. Chukwudu slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chukwudu looking to control.
Chukwudu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Chukwudu has an active guard here but Summers has managed to pass into half guard.
Summers performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Samuel Summers will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Chukwudu slips a straight right by Summers. Chukwudu throws an off balance right hand
and Summers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Chukwudu misses with a left hand and Summers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Chukwudu scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Summers uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chukwudu. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Chukwudu throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Summers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Happy Chukwudu has been cut. Chukwudu looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Nice defenses there by Summers. Summers was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Summers connects with the punch. Happy Chukwudu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chukwudu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Chukwudu lands a nice shot to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Summers defending well as Chukwudu loads up on a big left hand. Summers throws an off balance right hand

and Summers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A decent looking cross lands there for Chukwudu. Chukwudu is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Summers. Chukwudu takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Summers counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Summers throws the left hand but Chukwudu avoids the punch easily. Samuel Summers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

It looks like Samuel Summers has been cut. Chukwudu fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Summers, pushing him back against the cage. Summers misses with a hook from the clinch. Summers blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Still in the clinch, Summers scores with a nice short uppercut. Summers working hard to break the clinch. Summers swings wildly with an uppercut but Chukwudu uses good head movement to avoid it. Chukwudu blocking some punches.
Summers pushes Chukwudu back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Chukwudu throws a head punch that misses. A head punch on the inside from Chukwudu fails to land. Chukwudu has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Summers seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Chukwudu can turn it around. Summers lands a left hand.
Summers blocks a body shot from Chukwudu. Summers lands with a short shot to the head. Chukwudu tries to pull guard but Summers won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Summers wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Chukwudu gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Summers regains guard.
Summers wants to sweep but no luck. Summers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Summers controlling Chukwudu's posture. Chukwudu's corner is telling him to maintain position. Summers keeping moving, preventing Chukwudu from controlling successfully. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Summers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Chukwudu closes the distance looking to clinch and Summers counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Summers lands a jab to the head.

and Summers counters with a nice uppercut. Chukwudu thows a left - swing and a miss! Summers on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Chukwudu misses with a left hand letting Summers counter with a right hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Samuel Summers dominated that second round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round! Summers takes a shot right to the bread basket. Summers throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Chukwudu let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Summers clobbers Chukwudu with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Summers takes a body punch but keeps moving. Chukwudu swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Summers counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Chukwudu thinking. Summers thuds a left hand into Chukwudu's body. Chukwudu tries to clinch but Summers moves out of range. Summers lands a jab to the head.
Summers throws a jab but it's blocked by Chukwudu. Chukwudu connects with a right hand. Summers shakes it off. Chukwudu throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Summers connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Chukwudu connects with a body shot that sends Summers's belly button to the back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chukwudu looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Summers! Summers sneaks back into half guard. Summers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Summers trying to control from the bottom.
Summers is pressing down on Chukwudu's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Chukwudu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Summers dives on top into guard.
Happy Chukwudu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chukwudu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Chukwudu has his foot on Summers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Summers works his way back into a safe position though. Chukwudu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Summers defends it easily. Chukwudu working for a triangle but Summers defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Summers showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Samuel Summers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Summers trying to control the position from guard on top but Chukwudu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Chukwudu wants to control the position but Summers says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Chukwudu moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Chukwudu wants to hit a sweep here but Summers passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Chukwudu there! Summers controlling the position easily from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Samuel Summers. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Summers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
