PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitri Zaitsev (ranked 3915 p4p, 4080 weight class) and Kova Luu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kova Luu told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dmitri Zaitsev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kova Luu!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luu closes the distance and clinches.

Zaitsev pulls guard successfully.

Zaitsev seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Luu wants to improve his position but Zaitsev is controlling well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zaitsev in particular looking to stall.

Zaitsev's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Zaitsev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Luu's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Zaitsev has Luu pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Zaitsev pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Luu tumbling to the mat - Zaitsev dives into Luu's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Zaitsev seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Luu for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Zaitsev has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Luu after a bit of a struggle.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Luu is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Luu is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Zaitsev.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Zaitsev is stinking the place up with his stalling.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Zaitsev, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
