PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Katsuki Bakugo (ranked 1572 p4p, 1533 weight class) and Blade Wilson (ranked 234 p4p, 228 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakugo defending well as Wilson loads up on a big left hand.
Bakugo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bakugo misses with a body shot.
Wilson tests Bakugo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Bakugo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wilson manages to avoid it.
Wilson looks to land a left hand but Bakugo moved out of range nicely.
Wilson throws a hook to the side of Bakugo's head but Bakugo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Bakugo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bakugo showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bakugo is trying to control the action in half guard but Wilson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bakugo wants to pass the guard but Wilson is defending well.

Wilson is controlling Bakugo's trapped leg to prevent Bakugo from advancing to side control.

Bakugo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wilson is refusing to be controlled, as Bakugo sits in half guard.
Wilson won't allow Bakugo to pass to mount.
Wilson is looking for a sweep. Bakugo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Wilson moves into full guard.
Wilson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Wilson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wilson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bakugo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bakugo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Bakugo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bakugo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wilson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wilson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Wilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bakugo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bakugo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wilson defends well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bakugo looking to control.
Wilson wants to control from the top but Bakugo keeps moving.

Bakugo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wilson is aware though and is defending well.
Bakugo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bakugo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wilson stacks Bakugo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wilson!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bakugo prevents Wilson from moving into mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Katsuki Bakugo will probably get the nod.

Wilson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Wilson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Bakugo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wilson.
Wilson has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Bakugo ducks under a wild hook from Wilson.

Wilson cracks Bakugo with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bakugo looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Wilson finish him?

Bakugo is rocked!

It looks like Katsuki Bakugo has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wilson fakes the body blow, causing Bakugo to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Bakugo goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
