The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spitler gets caught flat footed, as Lestat shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Lestat will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Spitler looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Spitler is squirming around, avoiding Lestat's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lestat has control of Spitler's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Spitler regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Lestat is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Spitler can't fight it off and eventually Lestat manages to take the fight to the floor. Spitler looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lestat is looking to take a break and control but Spitler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

John Lestat overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lestat is taking a breather. Spitler says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
