Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eric Ries (ranked 989 p4p, 891 weight class) and Shug Skinner (ranked 133 p4p, 117 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Ries! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Shug Skinner! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ries throws a body shot but no joy. Skinner wants to counter with a clinch but Ries pushes him away. Ries misses with the combination.
Skinner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Skinner scores with a nice head shot. Ries doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Ries throws an overhand right that lands on Skinner's shoulder, as Skinner tries to avoid the shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ries ducks under a wild hook from Skinner. Ries seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Ries takes a shot right to the bread basket. Ries throws a hook to the side of Skinner's head but Skinner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ries looks to score with a jab to the body but Skinner is just out of range. Skinner is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ries staying out of range there. Skinner scores with a nice head shot. Ries connects with a crisp jab. Skinner misses with a wild body shot. It looked like Ries was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Ries slips under a jab from Skinner. Skinner throws a body shot but no joy. Ries throws a big counter combination but Skinner scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Skinner scores with a jab to the head.
Ries stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A punch lands to the side of Skinner 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ries cracks Skinner with a right hand to the side of the head. Skinner tries to clinch but Ries is having none of it. Ries jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Ries takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Skinner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ries moves away. Skinner jabs Ries right on the nose. Ries blinks but takes it well. Ries throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ries on the wrong end of a nice jab. Ries getting the better of the striking in that exchange. A big left from Skinner misses. Skinner misses the shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skinner dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Skinner throws a lazy right hand but Ries sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ries swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Skinner takes a swing at Ries's ribcage but misses. Ries uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Skinner. Ries closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Ries misses with a double jab.
Ries takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Skinner moves out of range of the strikes. Ries takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A jab from Skinner finds it's way through Ries's defenses. Skinner is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ries had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ries ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Ries swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Skinner misses with a two punch combination.
Skinner lands with a cross. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ries keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Skinner. Ries on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Skinner moves into the clinch. Skinner pushes off an throws an elbow but Ries leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Ries manages to break the clinch.
Skinner instigates a clinch. Ries swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Shug Skinner dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Skinner takes a body punch but keeps moving. No joy there for Ries, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Skinner throws a big shot that misses. Skinner has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ries jabbing away but nothing is landing. Skinner swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That was a close second round but I would say that Eric Ries will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Skinner throws a right hand that misses

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eric Ries. I think Ries has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
