The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Regal gets caught flat footed, as Mesquita shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Regal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mesquita on the ground.
Regal striking off his back but it's not causing Mesquita any problems.

Regal looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Mesquita drops back looking for a leg! Regal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Regal manages to kick Mesquita off! Mesquita jumps back into Regal's guard.

Regal goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mesquita has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Regal but great work by Mesquita.

That was a close round but I would say that Arnold Regal will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Regal in particular looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Regal doesn't manage to clinch there - Mesquita circles away.
Regal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
