PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Loris (ranked 1558 p4p, 1238 weight class) and Jack Waller (ranked 172 p4p, 134 weight class). Waller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Snoop Dogg - Murder Was the Case. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Waller was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugo Loris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Waller!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waller throws a shot to the body.
Loris bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Loris misses with a lunging right hand
and Waller counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A shot to the liver by Loris. Beautiful body shot.
Waller ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice straight punches there by Waller. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Waller.
Waller throws a jab but it's blocked by Loris.
Loris misses with an uppercut.

Waller paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Loris is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Waller's half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Loris has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Waller lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

It looks like Jack Waller has been cut.
Waller shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Loris eats them both and turns towards Waller to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Loris throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Waller on the side of the head.
Loris takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Loris fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Waller throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Loris stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Waller's coach down at Gunner's School of Combat was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Waller's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Loris quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Waller looks to score with a jab to the body but Loris is just out of range.
No joy there for Waller, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hugo Loris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close round but I would say that Hugo Loris will probably get the nod.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hugo Loris will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Loris looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

I would just about give that final round to Jack Waller.
