Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mucak Shanikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Watchman Nee!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shanikov is looking to clinch but Nee is avoiding it.
Shanikov throws a body punch but Nee moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Nee.
Shanikov comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shanikov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nee moves away.
Nee looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shanikov!
Nee postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Nee thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Shanikov tries to improve position but can't.
Nee tries to move to mount but Shanikov blocks the move with his legs.
Nee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Shanikov is trying to get back to half guard.
Nee looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Shanikov wants to control but Nee postures up.
We've been hearing good reports from Shanikov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Shanikov throws a right hand that Nee ducks under and follows up with a left that Nee also avoids with ease.

Nee rushes Shanikov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shanikov tries to pull guard but Nee won't allow it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mucak Shanikov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nee is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Shanikov is defending well for now.
Nee is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shanikov can't fight it off and eventually Nee manages to take the fight to the floor. Shanikov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Nee stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Shanikov has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Nee manages to get his head free but now Shanikov has transitioned to an armbar! Nee grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Shanikov! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
